First
Steps for a Believer
Receiving Jesus as your Lord &
Savior is the most important event that can happen to you because it means that
you are part of God's family, in other words a child of God, a
Christian. This event in your life marks the beginning of a wonderful new
life that God has prepared for you. We suggest the following steps in your
walk with Christ in order to grow as a Christian and become what God wants you
to be:
 |
Read
your Bible every day. God talks to you through His Word.
|
 |
Pray
on a daily basis. You talk to God.
|
 |
Tell
your friends and relatives about what Jesus did for you and that Jesus can
do the same for them. This is referred to as "Spreading the
Gospel of Jesus Christ". Gospel means "good news".
|
 |
Seek
out a Church that preaches the "good news" of Jesus Christ where
you can serve the Lord, have fellowship with other Christians, and worship
God.
|
 | Allow the "Fruits
of the Spirit"
to shine through in your life.
When you prayed to receive Jesus as Lord & Savior, God the Holy Spirit
came to abide in you to lead, guide and direct your life.
Galations 5:22
states "But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, He will produce
this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Here there is no conflict
with the law." The
key words are "when the Holy Spirit controls our lives".
Even after we get saved and are a part of God's Family, we can still choose
to obey or disobey God. Even in disobedience we are still a part of
God's family but, the Holy Spirit will remind us that we are disobeying God
preventing the "Fruits of the Spirit"
from shining forth. When we stay obedient to God, the "Fruits
of the Spirit" shine forth to other people
like a lighthouse shines forth it's light. Visit our "Fruits
of the Spirit" web page for a detailed
study on the various spiritual fruits that God wants to produce in us
through His Spirit. |
